As you probably know, this past year has been a bit rough. I heard this song on the radio a couple of days ago, and it's wonderful! I think I may have to buy this one.

I'm pretty low-tech here, so email me with your order. I accept payment via paypal. Patchwork 4 Ways is published! I just received a notice that my copies are on their way to my door via USPS. I can't wait! This is quite exciting! :) Just last week, AQS sent me 200 copies of a flier for my book. It still sound strange to me, saying, "my book." It's unreal. But fun. :)

....I have received word from AQS that my book is in the final stages of being put together. The estimated date of release is October 20th! I'm eagerly awaiting the pages that they will send me before they send it to the printer. It's pretty exciting, yet unreal at the same time.

I mailed the quilts via UPS and they arrived in Paducah the next day. Hooray! So nice to know that they are there, safe and sound. A trip will be made in April to go pick them up and to enjoy the museum and quilt shops in the area.

It's time

I have been advised that the quilts are to be in Paducah by March 2nd for photography. They are all completely finished and ready to go. The question is ..... mail them or take them? Postage, as someone wisely noted, is likely to be high. Gas prices are down (relatively speaking). Hmmm.... My dear, very supportive husband has offered to drive me there this Saturday (it's a 5 hour or so drive, each way). The decision is pending....
In the meantime, my quilt group (the "Nobody's Perfect Quilt Group" or NPQG) is planning a trip to Paducah mid-April. No, not for the quilt show. Initially, it was planned that we would deliver the quilts then, as well as see the quilt museum and other quilt-related sites in the area (quilt shops and such). Well, now that plan changes to going to pick up the quilts after they have had their photo session. It'll be an overnight trip and I expect it to be lots of fun!

BTW, the title of the book, I've just been told, is to be "Patchwork 4 Ways."

The Quilt Book

Well, it's in! My deadline was November 1st and I made it. The manuscript has been received by AQS (American Quilt Society) in Paducah, Kentucky and I'm told it's time to just wait now. They will be looking it over and deciding on a release date and will let me know. I have no idea how long that will take. Eventually, they will want the quilts. They say they are to be sent overnight mail. There are 20 quilts! Can you imagine the postage?? Well.... after mentioning this to my quilt group (the Nobody's Perfect Quilt Group, or NPQG - 6 of us who meet weekly in my basement), it was quickly decided that when the time comes to deliver the quilt, it will be a prime opportunity to take a road trip to Paducah to deliver them in person and see the quilting sights to be seen there.
In the meantime, I thought I'd post a picture of me with one of the quilts.

Homemade Ice Cream

Well, I'm going to follow my friend, Renna's, good example at "Finding my Knitch" and post my recipe for homemade ice cream. I had been thinking of making some, ever since receiving a bunch of wonderfully delicious fresh peaches. There are still some in my refrigerator, and 25 pints canned up on my shelves. We also enjoyed a peach cobbler and a peach pie. But I'm getting off track here. After much searching for a good peach ice cream recipe, I settled on one that looked good and easy and did not involve cooking anything. Then I concocted my own recipe that didn't use peaches at all but was so yummy, my husband and I have been thoroughly enjoying it!
Here's the recipe:

1 pint half and half
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 can evaporated milk (I used fat-free, 'cause it's what I had)
2 T vanilla
1 can coconut pecan frosting (I used Pillsbury, but I expect any brand will do)
a bunch of Whopper chocolate ice cream syrup (I didn't measure, but would guess about 1/4 cup -- taste it and see if if suits you)

Freeze in your ice cream freezer and enjoy! I didn't have enough ice (or maybe it was patience that I was lacking) but mine didn't freeze up all the way in the ice cream freezer. It was like soft-serve ice cream. After spending the next 24 hours in the freezer, it was perfect. Easy to scoop -- just like store-bought ice cream -- not hard as a rock as some of mine have been in the past. Really yummy too.

Alas, no photo of it, but it looks like light brown ice cream with flecks of coconut and pecans in it. Bet you could have figured that one out for yourself, huh?

Baby Bunnies!

Here are the bunnies in their nest. The momma covers is over with bunny fur and grass. We cover them back up with the blankie she makes when we're done looking at them and holding them.

Here is my husband holding some of the bunnies. Aren't they CUTE!!! I love to hold them and want to snuggle them up to my face. Being wild and not knowing how safe it might be, I restrain myself from nuzzling, but love to hold them. I limit myself to checking on them only twice a day.

They're about twice the size they were when we found them last week. Their little eyes were still closed and their tiny ears were flat against their head and just little round ears. Now they are longer and stand up. They still seem to prefer being in their nest. If we sit one down on the ground, he tries to burrow into the grass, or , if he's close enough to the nest, he gets right back in.

Did I mention that they are just SO CUTE!!!!
